Friday Distractions: June 3rd, 2016
It's Friday, so let's face it, you're only half-capable of concentrating anyway. Ease your way into the weekend my friends with these Friday fun reads. There's some long reads, video and a handful of my favourite blog posts from around the web. Enjoy! After 3 years working in Austria, I'm getting better at leaving the office on time, but the Danish have it down to a fine art. Stylist looks at why leaving the office on time matters. Like half the people on the planet, I'm in middle of a Game of Thrones addiction. These hilarious episode recaps by the Ozzy Man are brilliant. He's more famous for his sports video commentary, but the broad Aussie accent is strangely perfect for summing up the most recent episodes. Beware: you may snort laugh at your desk watching this.A beautifully inspiring read about the value of sharing your own story, even if you think it's not interesting 'Your life does not have to be a viral essay to be interesting' Stories: Big or Small from the amazing Emma Gannon.Bookstores I'm now dying to visit around the world. You ever get the feeling that half the articles you read online are just lists? This will make you giggle 'I am off to write the Great American Listicle' If you haven't read this yet, it's a well-overdue reality check, penned by my blogging hero, The Everywherist 'Quitting your job to travel isn't brave, it's lucky'Related 'Dear Internet, stop telling me to quit my job'. I love that my job gives me the creative freedom to write anything I want on this wee blog, with a side serving of travel opportunities. Long live the part-time traveller/creative with a kick arse job! Finally, as we're kicking off summer (FINALLY!) Sonja has a great round-up of alternative summer destinations in Europe. Spot the Austrian one in there! That's it for this week, I'm off to find a Weiss wine spritzer on a sunny terrace in the city. Sometimes you have to embrace the European city-living clichés because they are just so damn enjoyable! What are your plans this weekend?
Don't forget, my monthly round up of the best of the web is available when you subscribe here. Next edition is being sent out Sunday so don't miss out!
